Residents of the burned down Fairview Lodge will be able to move into their new home later this month.
The new Fairview Lodge is expected to be open for residents to move in as of June 23.
On May 27 and 28, officials from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care conducted a pre-occupancy inspection of the premises, and are expected to return for a follow up inspection in the near future.
According to a news release from the Region of Durham, the main item that needs to be addressed following the inspection is the nurse call system.
“We are really excited to reach this final stage,” states Marcey Wilson, Fairview Lodge’s administrator, in a news release. “Staff and residents are looking forward to being reunited in the Region’s newest, state-of-the-art home.”
Residents that were relocated as the result of the previous building burning down are able to stay at their present location until the new facility is open.
The fire at Fairview Lodge on Oct. 27 resulted in the evacuation of all 192 residents and staff.
