Extended heat alert for Durham Region
An Extended Heat Alert has been issued for Durham Region.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the heat event is expected to last until Wednesday, Aug. 25.
The city offers several options to stay cool during a declared heat event.
Cooling centres will operate for the duration of the heat alert at City Hall and all city recreational facilities. Washrooms and drinking water are available.
Splash pads and Camp Samac Pool will extend operation hours until sunset during a declared heat alert. City staff monitor activity at the splash pads and clean and disinfect touch points during each visit.
