Durham well represented at Canadian golf championships

Durham College golf team is heading to Chilliwack Golf Club to take part in the 16th annual Canadian University and College Championship.
The tournament, held on May 29, is Canada’s most prestigious postsecondary golf championship, bringing together the top teams from a variety of university and collegiate leagues across Canada. The Lords will be among the 20 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams.
Representing the Lords this year at nationals will be Colin Jex, Josh Taylor, Lucas Pichl Mac Harrison, and Ryan Trapp. The team is coming off a bronze medal finish at the OCAA championship back in October, before hosting the 2017 PING CCAA golf national championships at Royal Ashburn Golf Club.
Taylor was able to crack the top 20 at the CCAA championship. At provincials, Taylor also had the best finish for Durham, shooting 20-over to finish tied for fifth. In his first season with the Lords, he was only six strokes back of the podium. He also had the best final round, coming in with a seven-over 79.
Trapp also had a great year, capturing gold at the inaugural Ridgeback Invitational. Trapp was the top individual golfer at the tournament, shooting a two-over 74, ending his round with a birdie to beat out three players by one stroke. The team also went home with some hardware at the invitational, winning bronze.
