Durham and York launch new Energy Centre website

Durham and York regions have teamed up to launch the new Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) website, DurhamYorkWaste.ca.

This new website aims to help residents and stakeholders learn more about the DYEC. Residents can now search the website for information from their smartphones or computer.

The website features virtual tours, real time air emissions data, electricity generation information, event calendars, a user-friendly search bar on the home page and information on the facility. Residents are encouraged to take a tour of the site and provide feedback.

Residents will have the opportunity to learn about DYEC as a waste management facility that produces energy from the combustion of garbage. The DYEC safely processes 140,000 tonnes per year of the residential garbage in Durham and York Regions that remains after maximizing other waste diversion programs, such as reducing, reusing, recycling and composting.

To learn more about the DYEC, visit durhamyorkwaste.ca or email info@durhamyorkwaste.ca.
