DRPS employee charged with theft and breach of trust

Front desk clerk has been suspended

A civilian employee of Durham Regional Police Service has been charged with theft and suspended from duty.

On Tuesday, March 12, a 51-year-old woman was arrested and charged by members of the Professional Standards Unit.

She was working at the front desk of Central West Division in Whitby, but is now suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the case.

It is alleged she stole a purse that had been turned in at the front desk where she worked.

She has been charged with theft and breach of trust. The accused is a 27-year member of the DRPS.
