Don’t let repairs get out of hand

Dear Editor,

I live in a rent-geared-to-income apartment. The super in our building is very good. He fixes anything he possibly can and responds right away. I realize that Durham Region Non-Profit Housing has a budget that it must follow every year.

Recently, and for a whole year, we have seen on the news what can happen when things are not dealt with right away. It is not my place nor is there anything I can do about it, but it seems that DRNPH would be better off if they fixed things as they come up rather than waiting until it becomes so expensive to fix that it is not in the budget to be fixed right away.

After all, had the problem been fixed right away, it would not cost 10 times as much as if they had fixed it in the first place. I know, maybe they need to have a larger repair budget so that repairs do not get out of hand!
