It’s nothing new for Dom’s Autoparts.
A business that has been operating in the Durham Region for 50 years, they have been a long-time sponsor of the annual classic car festival, put on by the Motor City Car Club, and have once again put their backing behind it this year.
“We’ve both been around the Oshawa, Durham area for many years and supporting the local community events and endeavors,” says Dominic Vetere, president of Dom’s, speaking of his business and Motor City.
Along with their sponsorship, Dom’s Parts 4 Less business will be hosting a pair of interesting events for Autofest goers to get involved in, including a car smash and engine blow.
For the engine blow, an engine with no oil or coolant will run and people can purchase a time at which they think the machine will finally kick the bucket.
For the car smash, well, as Tiago Dias, the manager of Parts 4 Less explains, it’s pretty simple, pay to smash a car.
“It’ll be paid, five dollars for three hits, ten dollars for six and all the proceeds will go to Grandview,” he says.
Grandview Children’s Centre is the charity of choice for the Autofest event, with proceeds going toward the centre.
Mike Williams, with Motor City Car Club, says it’s great to once again have Dom’s on board.
“We are just absolutely thrilled,” he says. “Being that we represent Autofest and we’re charitable and we have our favourite charity that we provide to, to have Dom’s on board, we hope to have a long term success with Dom’s.”
Autofest runs from Aug. 21 to 23 at Oshawa’s Lakeview Park.
