Cirelli named to World Junior training camp roster

gens_anthony_cirelliCome the World Junior Championships, Oshawa Generals fans may see a familiar face sitting behind the bench.

Gens captain Anthony Cirelli was named to Team Canada`s training camp roster for the upcoming 2017 IIHF World Junior Championships, which are set to get underway on Dec. 26.

The camp will be held at the Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau, home of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QJMHL, and will feature three games: two against a team of U Sports (formerly CIS) all-stars on Dec. 12 and 13, and a final game against the Czech Republic on Dec. 14 before the Canadians finalize their roster.

Cirelli, a Woodbridge native, currently has 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 22 games, bringing his OHL career total to 47 goals and 78 assists for 125 points in 152 games played.

He was drafted 72nd overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2015 NHL Entry draft.
