Choosing water over sugary drinks

The city has launched a survey to find ways to help encourage children to pick water over sugary drinks such as pop.

The city is asking residents to help them encourage more kids to put down the cans of pop and pick up a glass of water instead.

The results from a survey will help guide Healthy Kids Community Challenge activities, and will also help programs dedicated to the theme of accessing free and safe clean water in Oshawa.

“As part of our Healthy Kids Community Challenge we want to encourage kids to drink more water,” states Councillor Bob Chapman, chair of the community services committee, in a news release.

“We are looking for your ideas on how to do this. All suggestions are welcome.”

The survey can be done online by visiting connectoshawa.ca/healthykids, or in person at any of the city’s recreation facilities.
