Car shop broken into
Two Oshawa men are facing several charges after police chased a stolen car in Whitby.
Police responded to an automotive business on Hopkins Street at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Monday, May 23 for a break and enter in progress. According to police, two suspects were seen inside the store, using blowtorches. When officers arrived, the suspects fled the scene in a car and did not stop for police. The car, which turned out to be reported stolen in Brampton, nearly hit a cruiser before coming to a stop on Dundas Street East when its front tire came off the rim when it attempted a U-turn.
The two suspects fled on foot, with one being caught after a short pursuit while the other was picked up by Durham police’s K9 unit.
A 29-year-old male of Trowbridge Court in Oshawa has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, disguise with intent, possession of break-in instruments, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
A 23-year-old male of Paddington Crescent in Oshawa has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, disguise with intent and possession of break-in instruments.
