The Durham Region chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society is seeking volunteer drivers.
According to Cancer Society officials, patients in Durham Region are facing a shortage of transportation options to get them to appointments.
The Cancer Society’s ‘Wheels of Hope’ program facilitates volunteers to take patients to treatments at Toronto hospitals including Sunnybrook Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Drivers are provided with orientation, training and support by the Cancer Society’s transportation team.
Additionally, a vehicle is also provided for trips into Toronto from Durham Region.
Those interested in volunteering are asked to visit cancer.ca/wheelsofhope or call 905-434-6405.
