Woman facing charges after running stop sign, causing region bus to go off road, hit two cars
An Oshawa woman has been charged after a bus went off the road.
According to Durham police, a red minivan heading south on Keewatin Street failed to stop at the intersection with Olive Avenue, hitting a westbound Durham Transit bus.
The collision caused the bus to go off the road, hitting a utility pole and two parked cars before coming to a stop.
The van was left at the northwest corner of the intersection, with the accident causing the vehicle’s airbags to go off.
Police say two people – the driver of the minivan and the bus driver – were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries. There were no reported injuries among the seven bus passengers.
A 32-year-old woman of Viewmount Street in Oshawa has been charged with failing to yield to traffic.
