Following a Durham College victory on the weekend, one volleyball player cemented her name in the college’s record books.
Courtice’s Jessica Broad recorded her 489th career kill – a play that leads to a point – in the college’s 3-0 victory over George Brown. Broad’s seven kills in that game helped her pass Mandi Doris, who had previously held the record at 484 through her five-year career with the Lords. This season, Broad has registered 125 kills, good for third best in the province.
Broad’s play has helped contribute to a hot season for the Lords, which have won eight straight conference games and sit at 12-1 on the season, good for top spot in the OCAA’s eastern conference.
Durham next hits the court on Thursday, Jan. 21 against the Trent Excalibur, who sit at 10-3, at home. The last time the two teams met, Durham pulled out a 3-2 victory on Trent’s home turf in Peterborough.
