Bikes on Bond returns Aug. 11

Downtown Oshawa is set to be echoing with the sound of revving motorcycles.
The seventh annual Bikes on Bond, hosted by the Downtown Oshawa BIA, is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11.
BIA executive director Garth Johns says along with Cars on King, Bikes on Bond is one of the organization’s largest events.
It’s an important tool to increase the profile of the city’s downtown area, he adds.
“Our intent no matter what we do, whether it be bikes or cars, is just to get people downtown, that’s purely the intent,” Johns says. “It makes us more familiar with the general public. It’s not just for bikers, it’s for everyone to come down, and see some of the things downtown has to offer.”
John says he expects more than 1,000 motorcycles to be on display, and the event will draw thousands of people to Oshawa’s downtown.
In addition to the bikes, there will be plenty of vendors, and live music, including headliners The Weber Brothers.
Bikes on Bond runs from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, visit downtownoshawa.ca
