Arrest warrant for driver who struck police vehicle

Durham Regional Police have located a man who had fled from a stolen car and had who struck a police cruiser overnight in Bowmanville.

On Sept. 19, at approximately 12:50 p.m., members of East Division responded to a fail to remain collision on Nash Road and Holt Road in Bowmanville. The suspect was allegedly operating a stolen Chevrolet Sonic eastbound on Nash when it rear ended a vehicle pulling a trailer. The damage to the stolen vehicle was substantial and the suspect fled on foot. A witness who saw the incident chased the suspect and arrested him until police arrived.

The 23 year-old man of Simcoe Street North in Oshawa is charged with: possession of stolen property over $5,000; and various charges related to fleeing from police and his erratic driving.

He also faces additional charges on the driving incident and he is charged with fail to remain,  theft over $5,000, possession of methamphetamine, three counts of fail to comply with probation order, careless driving and driving while under suspension. He was held for a bail hearing.
