First, it was an Oshawa bank. Then, a bank in Newcastle and Bowmanville were hit. Now, Durham police have a suspect in custody.
According to police, the Royal Bank branch on Taunton Road East near Harmony Road was robbed on April 23. Two days later, the same suspect robbed the CIBC branch on King Avenue in Newcastle. The next day, on Tuesday, April 26, police say he robbed the Auto Workers Credit Union on King Street East in Bowmanville.
On Friday, April 29, officers with the Major Crime Robbery Unit arrested a suspect at his residence following a brief struggle.
A 27-year-old male of Bathgate Crescent in Courtice has been charged with three counts of robbery and one count of possession of cocaine.
