Businesses in Durham Region can expect a knock on their door as the Planning and Economic Development Department conducts its seventh annual Business Count project. In order to gather employment statistics and help build a stronger local economy, the Business Count team will be conducting a survey of businesses across the region.
Until Aug. 24, the Business Count team will visit all business establishments in Durham to gather basic information, including the type and nature of the business, the number of employees, floor space available and more. The team will be recognizable by their navy blue Region of Durham shirts and photo ID cards.
Data collected through the Business Count will be used for municipal planning and analysis purposes, and to update regional and municipal business directories. When seeking out new suppliers, businesses are encouraged to visit the region’s online directory at investdurham.ca.
In addition to in-person visits, businesses—including home-based businesses and farms—have the option to complete an online survey by visiting durham.ca/businesscount.
Data collected may be shared with other government agencies. Sensitive data will be kept confidential and used strictly internally.
