A nighttime stroll through Purple Woods

The Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority (CLOCA) is inviting residents to a night time stroll through Purple Woods Conservation Area to discover the stars, fireflies and the wildlife who call the sugar bush home.

The free event will start at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. June 23. Interested residents can register online at www.cloca.com or contact Patricia Lowe at plowe@cloca.com .

“If the conditions cooperate with our plans for the night hike, we will offer participants an opportunity to see a fantastic light show,” states Cathy Grant, education instructor for CLOCA.  “We will also try star gazing providing there is no cloud cover.”

In the case of inclement weather, a cancellation notice will be placed online at www.cloca.com .

CLOCA advises residents to dress for the weather, closed toe shoes and long pants are recommended.  Flashlights are not necessary and can be distracting to wildlife. Summer Solstice refreshments will be served prior to the hike in the Heritage Hall.
