Get ready baseball fans because on June 18, the sport will be taking over the city.
This Saturday, Baseball Day in Oshawa will kick off at Kinsmen Stadium at 9:30 a.m. with a house league super skills clinic for all age divisions. Following that, spectators can catch the showcase game between the Oshawa Jr. Legionaires against the Leaside Jr. Leafs at 12 p.m.. The pre-game will also include a ceremonial first pitch from Mayor John Henry.
Kinsmen Stadium will play host to a series of games throughout the day, prior to the outdoor movie showing at 9:10 p.m., where a giant inflatable screen will fill centre field to play the baseball classic Angels in the Outfield.
The day’s games include: Oshawa Rep Mosquitos AA against the Clarington Orioles at 2:10 p.m., the Oshawa Rep Minor Mosoquito A against the Ajax Spartans at 3:20 p.m., the Rep minor mosquito AAA against the Ajax Spartans at 4:30 p.m., the Oshawa rookie ball AA against the Whitby Chiefs at 5:40 p.m., the rep minor rookie ball AA against Stouffville at 6:50 p.m. and the rep minor rookie ball AAA against the Whitby Chiefs at 8 p.m.
Hosted by Baseball Oshawa, the event is the culmination of the organization’s Military Appreciation Week, which has seen a kick off celebration at the Ontario Regiment Museum and Legionaires rep games throughout the week.
