Woman slashed with bottle at downtown bar
Durham police are seeking to identify a woman who they say used a broken beer bottle to slash another woman at an Oshawa bar last month.
On Sunday, March 1 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 19-year-old woman was sitting with friends at the Excuses bar on Simcoe Street South. The victim was approached by an older male when the suspect – Durham police say it is thought she is the daughter of the older male – began to argue with the victim.
When the argument escalated, police say the suspect broke a beer bottle and used it to slash the victim numerous times. The suspect, along with the older male, were told to leave the bar and escorted out by staff. They were last seen walking north on Simcoe.
The victim was treated for serious cuts to her arm.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black female, between 35 and 45 years old, between five feet and two inches and five feet and seven inches tall and has a medium build. She was last seen with long, wavy black hair and was wearing a cream coloured jacket, dark jeans and a toque.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Det. Const. Gomez at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 2704.
