Woman charged over stolen van, tools

An Oshawa woman is facing several charges after a van with thousands of dollars worth of tools was stolen over the weekend.

A resident in the area of Olive Avenue and Court Street reported that his GMC van was stolen overnight on Sunday, Dec. 20. The resident told police the van had approximately $7,000 worth of tools inside.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. that morning, a van was found backed up to a residential unit on Quebec Street. Police observed tools on the ground and found the resident of the unit inside. A subsequent search turned up thousands of dollars in stolen property and the keys to the stolen van.

A 37-year-old of Quebec Street in Oshawa has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft from a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failure to comply with a recognizance.
