Whitby teens caught driving double the speed limit in Oshawa’s west end
Two Whitby teens are facing stunt driving charges after going more than double the speed limit on an Oshawa street on Boxing Day.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 26, a Durham police officer observed a vehicle heading west on King Street West near Thornton Road, with the car clocked at 110 km/h in the 50 km/h zone. A second vehicle, travelling 106 km/h, was following the first one, with the officer saying it appeared to be accelerating to catch up to the first vehicle.
Both vehicles were pulled over near Garrard Street when they were slowing down for a red light.
Two teens, a 17-year-old Whitby male and a 17-year-old Whitby female, were both charged with stunt driving and careless driving. Both had they licences suspended and their vehicles impounded.
