Two men arrested after stealing Camaro
Two men face a number of charges after stealing a classic car.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, police attended the area of Quebec Street in Oshawa after a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro was stolen.
The vehicle was spotted in the area of Holt Road in Bowmanville.
Police saw the passenger exit the vehicle and attempt to flee on foot before arresting him.
The driver sped off and failed to stop for police before the pursuit was discontinued due to safety reasons.
The suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle and hid under a porch near Drew Street in Oshawa.
Members of Durham’s K-9 unit were able to locate him before he was taken into custody.
A 38-year-old man of Simcoe Street South is charged with occupying a motor vehicle without consent and possession of a cocaine.
He was released on a promise to appear.
A 29-year-old man of Bloor Street in Clarington is charged with theft of motor vehicle over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and flight from police among others.
He was held for a bail hearing.
