Two assaults in two days

A downtown Oshawa high school saw two violent assaults in two days that has resulted in injuries and arrests.

The first assault came on Monday, Dec. 14. At approximately 4 p.m., police responded to O’Neill Collegiate after a male had been assaulted. According to police, a male victim was challenged by a group of males as he was leaving school. One male in the group, wearing brass knuckles, began to fight the victim. As the attacker was being overpowered, a third male jumped in and assaulted the victim.

The next day at approximately 8:15 a.m., police were called back to O’Neill after receiving a call of a male student being hit across the face with a metal wrench. Police say the victim was treated for a serious cut to his face.

Police say the two assaults are believed to be related.

A 16-year-old male has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon in connection with the first assault.

An 18-year-old male of Alexandria Street in Oshawa has been charged with assault in connection with the first assault.

Another 16-year-old male has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of failing to comply with probation in connection with the second assault.
