Two arrested in July pharmacy theft
Two Oshawa residents have been arrested in connection with a theft of drugs from a Courtice pharmacy in July.
Police were called to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Highway 2 in Courtice on July 27 after a female employee had removed a number of pharmaceuticals from the store safe and handed them over to a male just before her shift ended.
The drugs, estimated to have a street value of $50,000, included hydromorphone, oxycodone and opiods.
On Thursday, Oct. 29, police located the female at a residence on Sharbot Street and was arrested without incident. The male was located later on Wentworth Street West and was arrested following a short foot pursuit.
A 23-year-old female and a 37-year-old male, both of Sharbot Street, have both been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and three counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The female was also charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance.
