Treats and ghosts at Halloween Haunt for families

There are gremlins and goblins and plenty of candy for kids at the Kids’ Safety Village of Durham Region’s Halloween Haunt. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event where families can take a stroll through the haunted Village. There’s a very scary maze, you can visit decorated houses and collect candy donated by the Rotary Club of Oshawa/Parkwood. This popular annual event attracts thousands and is a safe place for everyone to enjoy Halloween. In addition, you can explore the recently opened and newly built Village that is now larger and has a fire safety component in the classroom. “This is a function for the family to take part in and to have more interaction in the Village so when the kids come to the Village, they are more aware of it,” says Lennis Trotter, president of the

board of directors. “It’s a safe environment for everyone and also a good time to see the improvements made to the site.” Children are asked to dress up and bring their own bags in order to collect goodies. The Kids’ Safety Village is located at 1129 Athol St., Whitby. The event runs Sat. Oct 26 and 27 from 5 to 8 pm. All are welcome. Since the Village is still fundraising, donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
