Three hurt in accident
Three people sustained serious injuries after an early morning accident that police say involved alcohol.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, police were called to Simcoe Street North near Robert Street for an accident. According to police, a northbound Volkswagen Jetta was speeding on the road when it lost control, went off the road and hit a tree and an apartment building.
Three of the car’s five passengers, including the 24-year-old female driver, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the crash and were taken to Toronto area hospitals.
A fourth occupant was uninjured and the fifth occupant, who had left the scene before police arrived, did not report any injuries.
Police have said they believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
