Teenager arrested for winter robbery
Police have arrested a 19-year-old male in connection with a gun-point robbery that occurred this winter.
On Feb. 2, at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers were called to a robbery near a residence on Simcoe Street North and Windfields Farm Drive West in Oshawa.
According to police, the male victim was with a female friend when they were approached by two armed suspects.
The suspects allegedly made a demand for the male’s designer bag and cellphone. The suspects fired a shot at one of the victims from what is believed to be an imitation firearm. The suspects got into a vehicle and drove away.
A 19-year-old man of Highway 7A in Bethany, has been charged with robbery with a firearm, use firearm in commission of offence, pointing a firearm, possession of weapons dangerous and carrying a concealed weapon.
He was released on a promise to appear.
Police are continuing to look for the outstanding second suspect, who is described as a black male, clean shaven, 18 to 24 years of age, 5’9″ to 6′ tall and had short black hair.
He was wearing a grey-hooded sweater.
