Teen charged after using pepper spray

A Oshawa teen has been arrested in connection to an attempted robbery earlier this month.

On Oct. 8, just after 12:30 p.m., a male suspect approached three male teens who were walking home in the Tall Pine Avenue area of Oshawa. The suspect demanded the males hand over their money. He then pulled out a can of dog pepper spray and sprayed one male in the face before fleeing empty handed. The two other teens were not harmed and helped their friend home and contacted police. The male suspect was arrested in the area a short time later.

A 14-year-old male is charged with robbery/offensive weapon; possession of weapon for committing offence; possession of Schedule II substance; fail to comply with YOA Disposition; assault with a weapon; administer noxious thing and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released on a promise to appear.
