Teen arrested over school threats
An Oshawa teen has been arrested after he made threats against his school on social media.
At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, police were made aware of a threatening message posted to Facebook by a 14-year-old male. The post caused the school, Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School, to be placed in a hold and secure while police attempted to find the student.
In less than half an hour, the teen was arrested off school ground. Police say he will be facing charges in relation to the threats, but add they believe he did not have access to any weapons.
Police would like to remind the public to be careful about their actions online, especially on social media, as threats will be taken seriously.
