Teen arrested for stealing car, fleeing police

A teen was arrested and charged after he stole a vehicle and then attempted to flee police.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, police observed a Toyota SUV in the area of Front Street and Second Avenue in Oshawa driving erratically. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver drove off at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle, which was reported stolen in Oshawa, continued to flee and police pursued the stolen vehicle into Ajax. The suspect was in the area of Salem Road and Bayly Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the curb.

A 16-year-old teen was taken into custody and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a conveyance, and flight from police. He was later released on an Undertaking.
