Taking it to the streets

Flowing down Simcoe Street, and led by the Durham Regional Police, Special Olympics athletes and police officers carried the torch from Memorial Park to the gymnasium at Durham College. The event kicked off the 2016 provincial championships for the Special Olympics and saw more than 600 athletes take part in the two-day competition, which included events across the city.
