SIU investigating arrest

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in to look at whether an arrest by Durham police was done by the book.

According to a news release from the SIU, a 25-year-old woman was celebrating her father’s birthday in Pickering when her parents become concerned about her behaviour, and drove her to 19 Division in Pickering.

Upon arrival, she was restrained and transported to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering Hospital, where she was released without treatment. After this, she was taken to 17 Division in Oshawa. After some time in the precinct, she was taken to Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, where she was found to have a broken wrist.

The SIU is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch with the lead investigator by calling 1-800-787-8529.
