Serious injuries in assault

A Durham police forensics truck parked outside of a Cedar Street home. The house has been taped off since an early morning ambulance call over the weekend. Police say a male inside the house was seriously assaulted and is in critical condition in a Toronto hospital.
An Oshawa man is in critical condition after being assaulted in a south end home.
Police were called to a Cedar Street residence shortly after 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 to assist an ambulance. A male victim had been assaulted there, and was later transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre. As of press time, he remained in critical condition.
Homicide investigators have taken over the case, with a forensics truck parked outside of the residence near Simcoe Street South and Bloor Street all through the weekend and into Monday evening.
No arrests have been made, and police say they will provide updates as they become available.
