Reuse Days back in Durham Region
Whether it’s spring-cleaning, or simply looking to clear some space in the garage, Reuse Days are back in Durham.
Durham Region’s works department is accepting good-quality, reusable items at the first Reuse Day event of 2019.
Items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStores at the Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge locations, Diabetes Canada and the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
The first Reuse Day is on March 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, and will continue monthly until October at rotating locations in Durham Region.
Items can be donated at the Durham Region Waste Management Centre, 4600 Garrard Road, Whitby.
Reuse Days is a program which diverts quality, reusable items from the waste stream, including: clothing, textiles, furniture, appliances, cabinets, countertops and most other reusable renovation materials.
Only items deemed to be suitable for reuse by charities will be accepted.
Garbage, household hazardous waste and electronics will not be accepted.
Materials refused by charities must be removed by residents and may be disposed of at one of the region’s waste management facilities (fees may apply).
