Region launches waste app contest for groceries
Durham Region wants to help some lucky residents with their grocery bill.
Residents can now enter the Durham Region Waste App contest for a chance to win a $100 grocery store gift card of their choosing.
To enter the contest, residents can download the Durham Region Waste app to their mobile device, sign up for a reminder (via email, mobile, iCal, voice or text message) and enter the contest on the app.
One winner will be selected from each area municipality in Durham. Only one entry per person will be allowed, and winners will be randomly chosen, according to the region.
“With COVID-19, we’ve seen just how essential waste services are for residents and businesses, as well as how vital it is to get factual information from a reliable source,” says Durham Region Director of Waste Management Gioseph Anello. “That’s why I encourage our residents to download the Durham Region Waste app, or for Whitby residents the Whitby Waste Buddy app, to help ensure they have all the information they need to properly and safely dispose of their waste,” he adds.
The waste apps allow users to easily find information about waste in their municipality. Residents can use their mobile phone to view schedules, receive reminders, and find information about special pickups.
The waste apps have also been a useful tool during COVID-19 to help update residents regarding closures, event cancellations, facility changes, and updated safety protocols, according to the region.
By downloading the app, residents can be assured they’ll get the latest, accurate information about their waste collection directly to their phones.
The Durham Region Waste app contest closes on June 28, 2020 at midnight.
