Public meeting for condominium slated for north Oshawa

A public meeting will be held about a plan to build a condominium at Shankel and Townline Roads in the north end of Oshawa.

An application for Approval of a Common Elements Draft Plan of Condominium was submitted by D.G. Biddle & Associates Limited on behalf of Treasure Hill for lands at the northwest corner of Shankel Road and Townline Road North.

The meeting will be held virtually on Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. In-person delegations are not possible due to COVID-19. Delegation requests to speak to this matter through electronic means are required to be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 by contacting city clerk services at clerks@oshawa.ca.

Members of the public are also invited to submit correspondence concerning this matter. Comments should be addressed to Robert Bedic by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.

Comments received after 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, and up to Oct. 5, will be provided to committee members at the Oct. 5 public meeting.

The City of Oshawa’s website features an information tab which provides a list of upcoming council and committee meetings and agendas, a link to the live webstream player to enable easy access to view the meeting live as well as the ability to subscribe to council and committee meeting notifications.

The purpose of the application is to implement a common elements draft plan of condominium for 81 townhouse dwellings. The common elements generally include a private roadway, visitor parking, landscaped open space, a water meter building, an amenity area, sidewalks and a community mailbox.

– To provide comments: Written submissions to the City of Oshawa may be delivered prior to approval of the common elements draft plan of condominium to the attention of Bedic.

– To access the report: Copies of the staff report for the public meeting will be available beginning Oct. 1, either online at calendar.oshawa.ca/Meetings or by contacting Bedic.

– To be notified of the decision: Those who wish to be notified of the decision of the City of Oshawa in respect of the proposed common elements draft plan of condominium, they must make a written request to the Commissioner of Development Services Warren Munro.

– To appeal: The City of Oshawa is the approval authority for the common elements draft plan of condominium. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Oshawa in respect of the proposed common elements draft plan of condominium before the City of Oshawa gives or refuses to give approval to the common elements draft plan of condominium, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the council of the City of Oshawa to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (Tribunal).
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Oshawa in respect of the proposed common elements draft plan of condominium before the City of Oshawa gives or refuses to give approval to the common elements draft plan of condominium, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Tribunal unless in the opinion of the Tribunal, there is reasonable grounds to do so.
