Durham police have kicked off their 27th-annual food and toy drive.

This year’s drive was kicked off at St. Bridget Catholic School in Brooklin with music, dance and even a visit from Santa Claus himself.

The food and toy drive, which began in 1989, provides Durham families in need with food and toys for the holiday season. Local businesses, organizations and individuals can make donations throughout November and December. Police are accepting non-perishable food and new, unwrapped toys for donations.

Donations can be dropped off at any police or fire station in Oshawa, Whitby, Clarington or Ajax.
