Police seize $430k in drugs, property
Durham police have made a major dent in cocaine trafficking in the region, seizing more than a quarter million dollars worth of the drug.
On Wednesday, Aug. 12, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit, Intelligence Operations Unit and Tactical Support Unit executed seven search warrants in relation to the sale and distribution of cocaine in Durham Region and across the GTA.
The operation has been dubbed Project Belle.
Along with more than $250,000 worth of cocaine, police also seized proceeds of crime – including four automobiles – valued at $181,000. Police also seized a loaded handgun in a car that was searched in Ajax.
A 32-year-old male from Scarborough, a 33-year-old male from Pickering, a 32-year-old male from Pickering and a 31-year-old male from Ajax are facing drug-related charges in connection with the operation.
The Ajax man is also facing six firearm related charges.
