Police searching for suspects after townhouse robbery
Durham police are on the hunt for four suspects after a north Oshawa townhouse was broken into and robbed with an elderly woman and her grandchild inside.
On Friday, Sept. 4, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a 76-year-old woman was watching her grandchild in her townhouse in the area of Mary Street North and Taunton Road West when four suspect forced their way inside.
Police say the suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and had scarves across their faces.
The suspects ran upstairs and ransacked the bedrooms.
The female resident alerted a male tenant, who was outside at the time. He ran upstairs, but was confronted with a baseball-bat-wielding robber.
Police say the four suspects made off with jewelry and other belongings, and that this was not a random incident.
No one was physically hurt as a result of the robbery.
The four suspects are described as being male, between 18 and 20 years of age and wearing hooded sweatshirts. One of the suspects wore a red scarf across his face, another wearing a yellow scarf.
