Durham police have released this composite image of a suspect wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a teenager in Oshawa last month.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the victim, a 17-year-old female, was sitting on her front porch at home, in the area of Madawaska Avenue and Wecker Drive, when the male suspect approached her. According to police, the suspect used her phone to call a cab and then engaged in conversation. When the victim turned her back, the suspect hit her from behind, pulled her to a nearby greenbelt and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to fight off her attacker, running to a residence where she called 9-1-1.

A subsequent search of the area by the DRPS K-9 Unit was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s, approximately six feet and one inch tall with a medium build, has black shaggy hair and tattoos on his hands and fingers. He was last seen wearing black jogging pants, a black sweater with the word “Diamond” written in white on the front and a grey toque.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call Det. Const. Sabo at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5248.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
