Police continue gradual return of pay duty program
As the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) continues its gradual return to the pay duty program, DRPS has expanded its services in response to the province’s reopening framework.
The pay duty services now include all traffic control duties, patrolling of conservation authorities, and patrolling to ensure public safety and properties.
The gradual return of the pay duty program began on May 29, which was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the first step of the gradual return, pay duty officers can also be booked by the regional and local municipal governments for roadway intersection control and high traffic areas, or booked by businesses and local municipalities for essential public works of critical infrastructure, such as roadway, water or sewer construction sites.
Pay duty officers will not be available for all other requests, including film production, medical facilities, and judicial or correctional requests.
