Pedestrians hit by taxi outside Simcoe Street bar
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after two pedestrians were hit by a taxi outside of a bar over the weekend.
Police were called to the scene outside of the Excuses bar on Simcoe Street South, near First Avenue, at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Witnesses at the scene told police that a 24-year-old male and a 20-year-old female who had been involved in a disturbance both inside and outside the bar ran across Simcoe before being hit by a northbound taxi. Both pedestrians were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The female victim was later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma hospital.
The taxi’s driver, a 35-year-old Oshawa male, was not injured, and had driven through the intersection on a green light.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnesses the collision and/or the disturbances at the bar to call them.
Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call Const. Shields at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5100.
