PCs going green for votes
Dear Editor,
I read with amazement recently that along with their new logo, the PCs of Ontario led by Patrick Brown have jumped on the green bandwagon in the hopes of getting elected next election any way possible.
I thought maybe I was reading the usual stuff spouted by David Suzuki or Al Gore, but it was actually worded by the leader of the PCs in our home province – another talking head spouting the same line, but again, no proof.
He claims that climate change is real and is caused by mankind.
I think there is plenty of evidence proving that climate change has been taking place since the Earth was formed.
Remember that Greenland was called that for a good reason back in earlier times.
What there is not is any evidence supporting the often spoken theory that mankind is causing this change in climate, but that fact does not deter the greenies that profit from this mantra from shrieking doom and gloom to our world if Canada does not increase taxes and set up a whole new expensive bureaucracy staffed by well paid public sector mandarins to implement it.
It would appear that the PCs are willing to go along with this scam and act like liberals just to get elected at any cost.
If that is the case, I guess maybe a friend of mine who once told me “they are all the same” may have been onto something, although I did not want to believe that, as I felt some folks that ran for public office actually stood for something. If I also believed in the same cause, they got my vote and support.
If I feel the same way my friend does next election, I will not waste my time getting to a polling booth. If I do, it will be just to register my disgust at the choices available.
Why bother when the choices are Liberal, or Liberal Light? I will never vote for anybody that tells me they can alter the climate by taking my hard earned money. They sound like the rainmakers and snake oil salesmen of old that preyed upon a gullible public.
Canada is a resource-based economy that needs all the help it can get to move product to market, to provide much needed funding to sustain our standard of living as we know it, and to provide transfer payments to other less fortunate jurisdictions to keep their heads above water.
What we have now is more and more opposition to accomplishing our goals and, instead, lowering our standard of living by layering on more taxes, royalties, and delay after delay, while other countries go on their way putting megatons of pollution into the atmosphere daily by building coal-fired power plants by the hundreds! And you can be sure those coal plants are new, but not using the newest scrubbing technology to clean the stack pollutants.
Most people would agree that any and all pollution in our soil, water and air should be eliminated if at all possible, sooner rather then later, but the greens are too busy with trying to eliminate carbon dioxide. They’re taxing a harmless chemical that we all breathe out our noses everyday, and is needed for plant life as they take it in, and instead are claiming it is causing our Earth to heat up, although the actual earth temperature has not got any warmer in the last 17 years! How come? The science does not prove their theory, and until it does, if ever, should we not put our energies toward cleaning up actual nasty chemicals that do cause us harm?
Until that happens, I for one will not be supporting any attempt by politicians of any political stripe to install more expensive, and unnecessary layers of government to fleece us of more tax revenue so they can use it reward their cronies for helping them get elected.
