Parental resources now on social media
The region’s health department is now using social media to help put out information for parents and families on how to stay healthy.
The new Durham Healthy Families pages can now be found on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and will offer helpful information for parents of children from birth right up to 18 years old.
“The Durham Healthy Families social media sites were developed as a way to engage and interact with parents through various social media platforms,” states Lynne Rushak, a public health nurse the health department, in a news release. “The sites allow followers to post comments, ask questions and obtain direct feedback from a public health nurse who moderates the discussion.”
The sites will feature new topics every day, ranging from pre- and post-pregnancy health, breastfeeding, vaccines, sexual health, physical activity, cancer screening, substance misuse, mental health and more.
