Oshawa minor hockey appoints new AAA mentor

Oshawa Minor Hockey recently announced the appointment of Jim Jackson as the association’s newest coach mentor.

For the balance of this season, Jackson will be responsible for mentoring AAA coaches to provide assistance, guidance and mentorship program benefits.

Jackson is a graduate of the Oshawa Minor Hockey Association and was drafted in the first round by the Oshawa Generals in 1976.

Following a successful OHL career, Jackson went on to play professionally for 10 years, including time with the Calgary Flames, the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL, and the Rochester Americans.

Following his playing career he turned to coaching and has spent more than 25 years coaching both men’s and women’s programs.

He was recently the head coach for the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) Clarkson Cup champions Markham Thunder in 2017-2018 and was named the CWHL Coach of the year for 2018-2019.

Jackson has also been inducted into both the Oshawa and the Rochester Sports Halls of Fame.
