One year since Oshawa man disappeared

By Dave Flaherty/The Oshawa Express

Twelve months. 52 weeks. 365 days. Eight-thousand seven-hundred sixty hours.

There are many ways to quantify time, but in the simplest terms, April 25 marked one year since anyone has seen Kevin Christopher Zapp.

Zapp, 32, also known as “Ambition”, went missing in Oshawa a year ago, and there has been no new information in the case since last August.

Lead investigator D/Cst. Paul Grigoriou of Durham Regional Police Service told The Oshawa Express he hopes renewed attention on Zapp’s disappearance may change this.

“Basically we’ve put out the information we have to try to get something else,” Grigoriou says.

Zapp was last seen attempting to enter an apartment building at 222 Nonquon Road in Oshawa. He then headed westbound on Nonquon Road, and has not been seen or heard from since.

In May 2018, a search party of approximately 50 to 60 people joined together in the area to comb the streets and wooded areas for any sign of Zapp.

The group was assisted by Advanced Tactical Training Search and Rescue, a group out of the Kitchener-Waterloo area that assists in searching for missing people free of charge.

Zapp is a white male, 5’6, thin build, blue eyes, brown hair, and balding (receding hair line and balding at the top of his head).

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black baseball hat with a Toronto Blue Jay logo on front, white pin stripes on hat, a black sleeveless quilted diamond pattern zippered winter vest, and dark grey high cut Timberland winter boots.

He has tattoos on his left arm, forearm, and on his fingers.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact their local police service. In Durham Region, Grigoriou can be contacted at 1-888-5790-1520 ext. 2737.

Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or on the website at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
