One charged with dangerous driving after male left with serious head injury

A 26-year-old male is facing multiple charges after an incident left one person in hospital with a serious head injury.

On Thursday, June 8, 2017, at approximately 7:30 a.m., police were advised that a male party has been dropped off at a local hospital the day before.

The victim was later taken to a Toronto area trauma centre.

It was determined the victim was riding on the top of a vehicle in a residential parking lot and the driver applied the brakes several times, eventually causing the victim to fall onto his head. As a result he suffered serious head injuries, and was driven to hospital by his friends.

Now, a 26-year-old male of Craydon Road in Whitby is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm; causing bodily harm by criminal negligence; uttering forged documents; three counts of failure to comply with OIC undertaking; impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failure to remain causing bodily harm. The male is additionally charged with motor vehicle theft and possession of property obtained by crime as the vehicle involved was stolen in April.

He was held for a bail hearing.
