No foul play suspected in senior’s death
Police say they do not believe there was any foul play after a 76-year-old male died at Lakeridge Health as a result of head injuries earlier this month.
According to police, they were called to the Oshawa hospital in regards to the case. A male, who had shown signs of dementia, was said to have been injured after falling during a disturbance at home, resulting in the Homicide Unit being called in to investigate.
The man died on Sept. 15, the day after police were called.
The police investigation determined that the man had been acting aggressively towards his wife, who put her hands up to protect herself. He then lost his balance, fell and hit his head.
Police have determined that the death was a non-culpable homicide, or a death that is not criminal and nature and caused by an accident or in self-defence.
