No cooperation from victim in shooting investigation
Durham police are turning to the public for assistance as the intended victim in an Oshawa shooting has refused to cooperate with investigators.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a 23-year-old male was shot while outside a Colborne Street West apartment building. A seven-year-old boy, who was inside the unit, was hit by a stray bullet. Both were treated and later released from hospital.
Police say the victim, who is known to police, was the victim of a stabbing in 2010, and that the reasons behind the shooting are connected to a series of events since then. The victim has refused to cooperate with police in what they believe was a targeted shooting, and all leads to identify the suspect have been exhausted.
The suspect is described as a black male with corn-row hair. He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and black jeans. Police say the suspect approached the victim from the road and fired at least two shots before getting into a silver car that drove north on Kaiser Crescent.
